    Early August

    The morning garden chatter spoke
    Of the ripening chokecherries:
In a week the firm green berries
    Have become a plump burgundy.

Soon after the fledglings have flown
    The annual gathering begins
    With errant flights of drunkenness;
    Ending in somber discussions
    Of migratory timeliness.

    “Is it valid to”

    Is it valid to
    Orderly push
    Ones mind—
    Milking it
    Expanding it
    Thinking. . . .
    Being?

    Paths I, ix

    Various books of scripture lay
For our opened eyes to see,
       A testament from all cultures
Of the world that is to be.
    In spectrum’s spiritual array
Peoples of all colors and creeds
          In silent reverence converse,
          Warning of temptation’s vultures
          That pilot desire’s mortal hearse.
       In scripture Providence’s seed
Is sown to grow and show the way
For man to quench his thirstful need
To live life, unshackled and freed.

    Far Away

    Far away the children play
In a world shrouded in innocence.
    Let them play—
And learn to deal with life.

    “Lay your pseudo self”

    Lay your pseudo self
On the pyre of worldly ambition,
Releasing it into the illusory world
    Of its own creation,
    And become consumed
    In the Phoenix Flame
    Of your True Being;
    Allowing its Reality to Become.

    Children of the Sun VIII

    Suddenly emboldened
    By the right to deny
    Their internal essence
    They build institutions
    To enhance existence
    And begin to bask
    In the addictive glow
    Of a material comfort
    Sustained for the greater
By the labor of the lesser

    “The Heavens appear”

    The Heavens appear
    As the cloud cover dissipates.

    Full Moon
    Rising in the valley
    Of mountain peaks.
    Light—
    Reflecting on calm river.

    Fog forms veils
    On the valley floor—
    Eerily midnight approaches;
    April Full Moon.
