Hippo Rock

Another wave washes
The Hippo clean
Of perching shore birds

Overhead the seasonal wave
Of migrating ducks and geese
Struggle to reorganize
Their disintegrating formations
In the erratic April breezes

Spouting grey whales
Greet their Hippo friend
As they Frolic and dance
With the rhythmic waves
On their long journey
To feeding grounds
In the distant north

Another day is watching
Another wave
Wash over and around
Hippo Rock
